At Mermaid we are regularly upgrading our inventory.
Please
ensure you have a current version of this document.
Note: Please check with the technical team before your get-in
to make sure all your requirements are met. This specs list is
not a guarantee of availability of equipment.
The intimate auditorium is an end-on proscenium theatre with 242
seats on a retractable rake comprising 11 rows. With the
seating retracted an open hall is created which may be
configured to suit other formats. Configurations other than
end-on, however, require the hire of extra seating.
There is a red oak sprung floor throughout the auditorium which
may not be painted or fixed into in any way. The stage
comprises a removable black plywood deck @ 40mm above fixed
floor. Stage floor and walls should not be painted any other
colour than black. Screw fixings up to 30mm or staples only are
permitted - NO Nails.
If using full
stage depth there is NO BACKSTAGE CROSSOVER. Access from Stage
Right only. If required, a crossover is normally created by
hanging cloths on Bar #11 (see flying system).
An ORCHESTRA PIT with removable cover is sunk into the floor
downstage of the pros. line. Use of the pit reduces stage depth
by 1 metre.

NOTE: The DS edge of the stage floor overlaps the pit. The pit covers
are extremely heavy. Opening and closing of the pit is both
time & labour intensive, requiring a clear forestage, a minimum
of 4 strong crew and approximately 90 minutes for each
operation. Companies using the pit are normally required to
close it as part of their get-out. For Health & Safety reasons Mermaid reserves the
right to insist on using house crew at the visiting companies’
expense
(€120.- per open or close).
12m (40 ft) trailers can now be accommodated by arrangement.
Load-in at stage level @ 1.2 m above street level. 6 metre push
to upstage right. Trucks up to 6m. (20') may reverse up to
dock, longer vehicles must park parallel to building. A
tail-lift and/or ramp is recommended.
Mermaid is
located at the back of a very busy public offices complex.
Please let us know your requirements so space can be reserved.
Long vehicles may need to arrive early morning.

The centre is wired for 2 separate channels of headset
communication with outlets throughout the stage & backstage
area.
Microphone on proscenium relayed to outlets throughout
building. 5 x relay speakers available. Currently 1 in each
dressing room, 1 in Green Room and 1 in control room.
Camera relays activity on stage to various outlets throughout
the building. 2 monitors available, usually located 1 onstage
and 1 in the Green room.
Dressing Room #1 located Stage right can accommodate 7-8
people. Includes mirror-lights and shower room.
Dressing Room #2 located upstairs adjacent to the Multi-Use
Space (see below) can accommodate 6-7 people. Also includes
mirror-lights, shower & wc facilities.
The Multi-Use Space (see below) is large enough to accommodate
several people, and may be used as a chorus room. There are no
mirrors in this room.
Washing machine, tumble dryer, iron & (cheap) ironing board
available in Green Room.
The Green Room is comfortable for 8 - 10 people. Includes
microwave, kettle and refrigerator.
A disabled hoist in the foyer may be used to bring goods
upstairs.

Mermaid
normally provides 1 house technician for up to 12 hours to
assist with get-in, and 1 technician for the get-out. Additional technical cover will be charged for. We do not
provide sound engineers, lighting operators or stage management
for the running of shows. A member of our technical staff is
however on standby at all times.
Please advise if you wish us to engage lighting
riggers/operators, sound technicians or any stage crew on your
behalf.
