Smoky lounges full of gents sipping bourbon, quiet bayous with stars overhead, wild street parades and steamy dancehalls –Django à la Créole presents listeners with all these images and more in their unique fusion of jazz and Gypsy swing, mixed with hot syncopations from the streets of New Orleans. Elegant and impassioned, the group seasons their well-worn repertoire with rhythms from New Orleans, Cuba, Brazil, and the Caribbean. The Latin, French and Island beats blend with the proverbial sounds of New Orleans jazz creating a style that is at once distinctive and distinguished.
‘Utterly seductive’ The Scotsman
Pinto is a collaborative trio featuring Sean Carpio (Drums), Simon Jermyn (Bass) and Robin Fincker (Saxophone/Clarinet.) With a style that combines free pop, jazz and noise-core ballads this group explores boldly the full potential of the trio format.
Having collaborated regularly over the last ten years, two of Ireland’s most prolific jazz talents Simon Jermyn and Sean Carpio, have teamed up with long time associate Frenchman Robin Fincker, to create this dynamic new group. Improvising around lively, energetic hooks or meditating on sweet melodies, they roam freely across the stylistic terrain, with quirky writing from all three making a stimulating performance experience. Pinto is the perfect contemporary complement to the night’s main event.
