Infra in Context

Accompanying the exhibition of photographs by Richard Mosse from his Infra series, Mermaid hosts an evening of conversations to contextualise Mosse’s photographic project made in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Speakers include Nora Hickey (Mermaid’s Artistic Director) Brendan Culleton and Irina Maldena (Directors of Congo – An Irish Affair), Alfred M’Sichili (Researcher on EU trade policy and natural resources) and Billy Timmins TD (former UN peacekeeper, Spokesperson on Defence, Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Relief and Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs).
The conversations will draw out the complexities of the ongoing conflict in the Congo, which inspired the Mosse series, while also highlighting the longstanding link between Ireland and the DCR.
The conversations will be followed by a wine reception.
