Mermaid’s 10th anniversary celebrations continue as another season brings forth a bounty of music, art, theatre, film, dance, comedy, workshops and public talks during the late spring and early summer months. This month sees the return of the IMRO Live Music Venue of The Year Awards, presented by the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) in recognition of Irish music venues that provide the very highest standards in live music entertainment. The Mermaid team are delighted that Mermaid has again been nominated in the Leinster live music venue catagory.
The awards acknowledge the central role that live music venues play in developing and supporting the music community in Ireland. Live music venues provide superb, quality entertainment to the public and a platform for Irish artists across all genres of music. Over 8,000 members of IMRO have been busy nominating their favourite Irish venues and festivals. The top 5 venues with the most nominations in each region have been short-listed for an IMRO Live Music Venue of The Year Award. Venues were assessed by Ireland's songwriters, composers and publishers on a number of criteria including general ambience, staging, sound, lighting, diversity of music, artist relations and venue promotion.
The Overall IMRO National Live Music Venue of the Year Award will be determined by adding the results of the IMRO member poll together with an open public poll which is currently taking place at www.surveymonkey.com/s/venueawards.
