Bealtaine: The Flow(er)ing Tide

We will embark on a coastal forage looking for fresh growth of sea spinach, rock samphire, wild garlic and the yellow flowers of May - primrose, gorse, marigolds, daisies. We’ll share May Day recipes, herbal medicines and folk traditions through a short writing exercise and share a foraged snack over fire to celebrate the arrival of Bealtaine before returning to the studio at Mermaid to use our floral gifts in the anthotype process.

Merging their knowledge and experience, Kasia and Samuel bring together their passion for creating and learning with the elements; seaweed, plants, light and shade. These workshops are designed to share knowledge and skill (foraging, eco-photography and printmaking, ink making) in a creative form, allowing tradition to blend with new ways of thinking and creating. We hope through these workshops to collectively engage in retracing and finding new ways of being custodians of our environments; foraging for nourishment and creating artwork, is an invaluable way to reconnect and therefore care for the environment we come home to.
