Bray in the Victorian Era (1837-1901)
The golden era of Bray’s development and expansion took place between 1837 and 1901 and the town acquired the title “Brighton of Ireland”. Inded, the travel agent Thomas Cook had Bray listed as one of the top ten places to visit.
As part of YARN Storytelling Festival join Brian White of Bray Cualann Historical Society as he explores how the town developed in regard to Education, Public Transport, Public Health, Social Housing and Tourism during the reign of Queen Victoria. This was against a background of social order and class.
