Brian Irvine Workshop for Schools

Mermaid Arts Centre in partnership with Music Generation Wicklow and Eamon Sweeney, Music Network Musician in Residence in Mermaid Arts Centre, is offering the opportunity to your students to come to a workshop with Brian Irvine.

The workshops are on March 29th in the Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray and are running at 11.00am and 1.00 pm each lasting for one hour.

The workshops are aimed at students aged from 8 to 12. Booking is through Mermaid’s Box Office on 01-2724030 and the fee is €5 per student (teachers go free).

These workshops will be a wonderfully creative and imaginative music making experience for young students.

Brian has worked with Music Generation Wicklow on several occasions and will be remembered for the wonderful production of Blue Bottle which took place in the Bord Gáis Theatre in 2014 involving over 400 children from County Wicklow.

Brian Irvine:

Composer/conductor Brian Irvine was born in Belfast. His huge body of work includes operas, orchestral works, large-scale participatory work, films, multi-media installations, dance works as well as ensemble, solo, and chamber pieces. His sound world is a personal concoction of contemporary classical, cartoon, punk, jazz, thrash and trash and combines the lost, the fixed, the free, the learned, the naïve, the precious and the junk. He has won two BSACA British Composers Awards as well as the Radio 3 Jazz Award for best new work.

“Some of the most exhilarating and imaginative music you'll ever hope to hear…”
