Can You Ever Forgive Me?

Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy, is perfectly cast in this true-life comedic drama about the writer Lee Israel. When Lee finds herself castaway from the literary world, struggling to make rent, she turns her considerable talent to the forgery of literary correspondence. With the help of a rambunctious new acquaintance Jack Hock (Oscar nominee Richard E Grant), Lee, surreptitiously finds a new voice, proudly declaring: “I’m a better Dorothy Parker than Dorothy Parker!” Together they find a fleeting happiness and a new sense of purpose.

Can You Ever Forgive Me? is an elegantly crafted story of humour and pathos. McCarthy and Grant forge a genuine chemistry as two outsiders, who find temporary solace in each other’s foibles.
