Dave Douglas & Trish Clowes Eyes Up Quintet (USA/UK)

Celebrated New York trumpeter Dave Douglas teams up with saxophonist Trish Clowes for a unique musical voyage that plays clear homage to their mutual love of Wayne Shorter.

This stellar quintet, who also include pianist and Hammond organist Ross Stanley, guitarist Chris Montague and drummer Joel Barford will present music that is contemporary, rhythmic and lyrical, bringing to the table he full compositional powers of a thrilling new collaborative effort.

Dave Douglas is no stranger to Bray Jazz – visiting most recently with the Sound Prints quintet that he co-led with the great Joe Lovano. Back on 2007 his amazing Keystone band released an award-winning recording – Moonshine – based on recordings of a live concert that they had played at Bray, that year.

Trish Clowes ‘My Iris’ quartet released their widely acclaimed ‘A View With A Room’ album on Dave Douglas’s Greenleaf Music label, last year. ‘A View with a Room’ received a four-star review and was named ‘Album of the Month’ by The Guardian.

A successor to the acclaimed CEO Experiment, the band he co-led, and which provided a welcome new voice to the Irish scene for over a decade, pianist Leopoldo Osio has assembled here an ensemble of players from across the globe - Italian saxophonist Gianni Gagliardi, Spanish drummer Gonzalo Del Val, his long-time collaborator Peter Erdei from Hungary on bass, and virtuosic Cork based trombonist Paul Dunlea in this great new group.

This show is a rare opportunity for the band members to assemble, and provides them with an opportunity to officially launch an album which they started working on before the pandemic.
