Irish Folktales of Coast and Sea
From mighty crags rising sheer from the sea to long golden strands backed by ancient sand dunes, Ireland’s coastline is foreboding, romantic and achingly beautiful.
Men and women have lived, loved and died in this harsh but bountiful environment. And through it all they have told tales to make sense of the world around them, to entertain themselves and to banish despair. Little wonder that our richest folklore is to be found around the rugged coastline of this island.
Brought together and reimagined by modern-day seanchaí, Colin Urwin, this collection of traditional Irish folktales of sea and shore contains some of the most enchanting, strange and beautiful ever told.
