About Ruth Kirkpatrick

Ruth is one of Scotland’s leading storytellers, and is internationally recognised as a charismatic performer and singer. Viewed as a Tradition Bearer from the North East of Scotland, she has been lucky enough to ‘sit at the knee’ of some of the great storytellers and singers which Scotland has borne.

Although showing a deep love for the tradition, she does not shy away from making these tales her own. She has been professionally telling for over 20 years. Ruth’s project and publication, ‘Stories Allways’ successfully develops innovative ways to use storytelling with children and families who have emotional and social needs. Her real strength is in forming a warm, authentic rapport with her audience, giving her performance a loving, feisty sparkle. This makes her a popular guest at Festivals worldwide, from the glaciers of Iceland to the bookshops of India.
