Roger Doyle in Concert

Following on from his recent concert at Killruddery House, Bray-based composer and pianist Roger Doyle presents a concert both of his solo piano music, and also music for piano and synchronised electronic backing track. Roger will be joined by special guests Vyvienne Long, and dancer/choreographer Tara Nixon O’Neill performing a piece in memory of Joyce’s daughter Lucia

The music he will perform includes parts of the onstage piano score he composed for the Gate Theatre’s celebrated production of Oscar Wilde’s Salomé, music for the soundtrack of the silent film Budawanny and live performance from his new album Finnegans Wake - Suite Of Affections where specially chosen excerpts from James Joyce’s book are spoken by a top Irish actress Derbhle Crotty, and set to music.

'These works are magnificent multi-layered miniatures infused with the stylistic pluralism that sets Doyle out from the crowd. As throughout, Doyle’s own playing here is impeccably realised, admirably poised and exquisitely nimble’….from a review in The Journal Of Music of Doyle’s solo piano album Baby Grand.

CDs will be on sale after the concert.
