YARN Story Circle

Join us for a relaxed storytelling circle upstairs in the Town Hall.

April's special guest teller is Dougie Mackay (Scotland). Dougie will launch our monthly storytelling story circle and then open to the floor. No pressure to tell - listeners welcome!

The YARN Story Circle will take place on the first Wednesday of the month from February to June and then in September and October before culminating in a Story Swap at the YARN Storytelling Festival.

Venue: Upstairs in the Town Hall (enter by the door opposite the Credit Union)

Hailing from the Scottish Highlands, Dougie Mackay comes from a lineage of natural storytellers, and is fascinated by the wild northern tales of Scotland, Scandinavia, Ireland, the Baltics and Siberia.

Telling stories professionally for over 10 years, Dougie has a wide repertoire of tales and has become renowned for his warm demeanour and engaging style of telling, with lots of audience interaction and rhythmic accompaniment.

Dougie especially loves telling in outdoor environments and unusual settings and often devises outdoor learning sessions with storytelling at heart.

As well as delivering hundreds of storytelling programmes in schools, museums, libraries and community venues, he has performed at some of the most prestigious storytelling festivals and events in the UK such as SISF (the Scottish International Storytelling Festival), FatE (Festival at the Edge), Village Storytelling Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
