YARN Story Circle - Guest Teller Francis McCarron

Join us for a relaxed storytelling circle with guest teller Francis McCarron.

Our special guest will launch our monthly storytelling story circle and then open to the floor. No pressure to tell - listeners welcome!

Francis McCarron:
A native of Co. Monaghan, the stories Francis tells are drawn from Irish mythology, folklore, history and include a few that he has written himself. They are populated by heroes and villains, fairies and folklore, yarns about local Monaghan characters, saints, sinners and include border tales of smuggling and other goings on! Rhymes and riddles also feature and tales are told in an easy going and engaging style because “life’s too short for a long face!”

Francis has been involved in storytelling events in his native Co Monaghan for well over thirty years. He is a committee member of the Storytellers of Ireland and founded and curates the Drumlin Yarnspinners group. Drumlin hold a monthly yarnspinning session in Monaghan town (contact fmccarron@hotmail.com for details). Francis is Storyteller in Residence for Monaghan County Council and has told tales the length and breadth of Ireland, featuring for many groups and festivals.

He has also facilitated intergenerational storytelling events as part of peacebuilding projects, is a Fáilte Ireland Regional Tour Guide and an ATGI member. As well as that he is registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland.

The Yarn Story Circle will take place on the first Wednesday of the month from February to June and then in September and October before culminating in a Story Swap at the YARN Storytelling Festival.
