What You Need for Painting

This exhibition of paintings formed an exploration of colour in response to the Raymond Carver poem ‘What You Need for Painting’. The canvases and works on paper systematically followed the 'list' of colours set out by Carver in the poem, in sequences decided upon by the artist. Each piece had many layers of colour and is given its title from the final layer on the paper or canvas. These intriguing, seemingly simple paintings by the Kilkenny born artist were not to be missed.
