The bond between grandchildren and their grandparents is a magical one! Wicklow children share their poetry and portraits about their grandparents is this online exhibition.
During lockdown in spring/early summer Mermaid Arts Centre invited children from all over County Wicklow to submit pictures of and poems about their grandparents that they couldn’t get to see during this difficult period. These submissions were emailed in and displayed on Mermaid’s website in a digital gallery.
As the pandemic continued, Paul Timoney, Mermaid’s Storyteller in Residence for 2020 (kindly supported by the Arts Council), facilitated a series of creativity workshops both in Mermaid Arts Centre and online with children in schools, encouraging them to express their feelings about special people or things they greatly missed or are still missing.
Mermaid is delighted to now present this work to you.
We would particularly like to thank St. Kevin’s N.S., Greystones, Charlesland Montessori, St. Kieran’s School for Travellers, Bray and Lakers, Bray.
