Jim Morrison, a native of Co. Kildare, graduated with a BA Fine Art in Painting from NCAD in 1983. He exhibited in the RHA and in various shows in Dublin, Wicklow, Kildare and elsewhere. His work is in the collection of Kildare County Council as well as private collectors.

Jim had a meticulous realist style which took in themes from portraiture to the military. His attention to detail reflects his interest in the structures both of and by the society we live in. He was fascinated by the inner workings of the human mind and this can be seen in the portrait work where the sitter often seems remote from the viewer, concerned with their own moment in time.

Jim Morrison lived in Bray from 1988 until his death in 2017 and was a founder and board member of Signal Arts Centre.
