Fiona Hallinan

The Making Of: Memories Made Manifest

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ardmore Studios, artist Fiona Hallinan was resident in Mermaid Gallery for the month of July. Fiona had an open studio in the gallery, where the legacy of Ardmore Studios was recorded, archived, discussed and processed through stories drawn from the local community.

After her residency, she created an audio walking tour of Bray town based on the narratives recorded, which became available to the public in September.

During July the gallery was a hive of activity with impromptu events, discussions, sessions, storytelling and recordings that were advertised on a daily changing ‘menu’ blackboard in the Betelnut café.

Members of the public were encouraged to participate by contributing their own memories of Ardmore Studios or to simply drop in and observe the exhibition that grew throughout the month.
