Honey & Lemon: Community Dance Project Finale

Mermaid's dance artists in residence, Dance duo Honey & Lemon, have just finished hosting their 6-week creative community project at Mermaid Arts Centre. After a public call out for local women of all ages to partake in the project, Millie and Amy led participants in weekly dance sessions, involving physical warm-ups, good tunes, chats and the exploration of creative ideas for movement together. The second aspect of the project was the creation of a short film made by and for the community.

The culmination of this project, Honey & Lemon presents Margaret (the duo's first film) will be screened at Mermaid Arts Centre on Saturday 20th September at 2pm. This documentary short follows the journey of the participants; women of all ages with a desire to move their bodies. The film is a reminder of the possibilities that dance offers to communicate and connect with abandon, holding us in collective celebration and personal discovery. Little did the whole team know that this project would serve as a powerful reminder of the capacity of the arts to foster connection and nourish the soul!
