IMRO Awards - Venue of the Year!
Mermaid Arts Centre is thrilled to announce its recent accolade as the Venue of the Year at the IMRO Venue Awards 2024 in the rest of Leinster category.
In a statement regarding the awards, Eleanor McEvoy, IMRO Chairperson, expressed her delight, stating, "I'm delighted for these well-deserving winners this evening. They are the lifeblood of the Irish music industry, providing the means, the ambiance, and the environment to hear music the way it is truly meant to be heard - live on stage in front of an appreciative audience."
The event, hosted by IMRO, took place on Tuesday, 5th of March at the Sugar Club, Dublin. The shortlist of nominees was curated by over 20,000 IMRO members through a public vote.
A small representative group from Mermaid Arts Centre attended the ceremony on the evening. To the delight of the team the Arts Centre was awarded Venue of the Year in the Rest of Leinster category.
The evening was further enriched with captivating performances by Qbanaa, EFÉ, Big Sleep, and DJ Maria Lawlor.

We work really hard at putting together a varied and exciting programme of music events and creating a really excellent live experience for those audiences, so it’s lovely to see the whole culture of that recognised and celebrated. We’re really grateful to the mystery industry colleague who nominated us, as well as all those who voted in the awards and the team at IMRO.”
Cllr. Anne Ferris, Chairperson of Mermaid Arts Centre’s board of directors, said of the award: “I’d like to pay particular tribute to the team here at Mermaid Arts Centre especially our technical and front of house teams whose hard work and warm welcome is the backbone of what makes this a great live music venue.”
