Janet Moran
A Holy Show was performed in Mermaid Arts Centre and as part of Dublin Fringe Festival in the Abbey Theatre (on the Peacock Stage) which ran from 8th to 15th September. Mermaid Arts Centre co-commissioned and produced the show, as well as providing a rehearsal space and financial support for planning and production.
A new comedy based on the 1981 hijacking of an Aer Lingus plane by an ex-Trappist monk with a bottle of water as his weapon, the Pope as his nemesis and a burning desire to know The Third Secret of Fatima. Step on the plane with us and experience this most Irish of hijackings. There’ll be music, nostalgia, heroism, praying, visions, romance (maybe), sex (maybe), a special appearance by Our Lady (definitely). There’ll even be a miracle. I swear.
Funded through an Arts Council of Ireland Theatre Project Award. Created and Produced by Mermaid County Wicklow Arts Centre. Script and Play Development co-commissioned by Mermaid County Wicklow Arts Centre (Bray) and The Pavilion Theatre (Dun Laoghaire) and supported by the Centre Culturel Irlandais (Paris) and Fishamble: New Play Clinic

‘Working with Janet is a joy, helping her develop her script and now to make and present the work is a huge achievement for her but also for Mermaid. The show is fast-paced and side splitingly funny - don't miss it!’ Niamh O'Donnell
