The Mermaid Garden Project

An initiative founded by artist Elida Maiques, The Mermaid Garden Project is where local residents without their own green spaces can grow, compost and exchange horticultural knowledge in our urban garden. The Project began in 2022 during Maique’s tenure as one of our Transform programme artists, and is closely aligned with her research into horticulture, community growing and guerilla gardening.

The Garden forms part of Edible Bray’s network of urban growing spaces around the town, where small pockets of land are tended to by members of the Common Ground collective. Its mobile planters house a selection of herbs, vegetables and aromatics, which can all be used the kitchen. The focus is on medicinal, edible and native species
