Christy

When 17-year-old Christy is kicked out of his foster home for attacking his foster brother, he is released into the care of his half-brother Shane, and back to the community of his childhood. Having tragically lost his mother when he was very young, he has no sense of connection to the place or it’s people and he struggles to settle in. But slowly the local community start to connect with Christy, helping him finally feel like he may have found somewhere to call home.

Brendan Canty’s debut feature, based on a short of the same name, is a love song to the truest sense of community, with moments of pure joy and fun that break through the bleaker moments.

‘Canty’s film is at its strongest, and most authentic, in its depiction of two boys who lost everything and trust nothing, not even each other... two lovely central performances..’
