‘“Dutch-born, Dublin-resident Burlesque artist Truly Divine (we have a hunch that’s not her real name) has emerged over the past five years as one of the more convincing of the rash of Irish singers channelling Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, et al.”’
Cormac Larkin, The Ticket in The Irish Times, 2016
About Truly DiVine
Truly DiVine has been gracing big and small musical stages since her arrival in Ireland from the Netherlands in 2004. Beginning in the Dublin jazz scene, she spread her wings in 2009 to the burlesque and cabaret stage, where she earned her new name and lived up to it. With sassy, comic, theatrical and moving performances of her favourite vintage songs from the 20s to 50s, Truly has made herself one of the leading voices of this sassy classy scene.
A main act from these early days is still going strong now: The Bugle Babes, a 1940’s three-part-harmony group clad in vintage dresses and seamed stockings. They are still touring the country, adding style and grace to any occasion with their smooth harmonies.
Truly created this Doris Day show in 2014, at a time when she also ran a show around Marlene Dietrich and other strong female Hollywood stars. Intrigued by these strong independent women, Truly delighted in telling their stories through songs, keeping their spirit and strength alive.
