Dip in the Pool is Gratrix's first major Irish solo exhibition. A sun-lounger of a show that looks, from a distance, like a holiday. Get closer, and it's something else entirely: spinning plates, custom beach towels, suspended colour, cruising-app intimacy, grief, inheritance, fridge magnets and a very particular colour palette, all arranged according to rules that never quite resolve.
Gratrix (b.1984, lives and works in Blackpool) treats the gallery as a kind of free cruising ground and a space to rest, reinvent and reconsider. Blackpool and Bray are both Victorian promenade towns, built on the push and pull between visitor economies and the people who actually live there, between rest and reinvigoration. That tension runs through everything on show, alongside a playful but pointed critique of how slow institutions can be on access, intersectionality, and paying artists fairly.
