Love Me Tender

After separating amicably from her husband Laurent and deciding to give up her successfullegal career, Clémence has taken up writing while sharing custody of her eight-year-old son Paul. She has also started dating women, leading to a newfound sense of independence and happiness. When Clémence opens up to Laurent about her romantic life, however, he reacts angrily and starts seeking sole custody of Paul. Clémence must fight an unfair system so she can live freely without the pain of losing her son.

A tender and hard-hitting story of one woman’s fight for what is right, Love Me Tender is based on Constance Debré’s semi-autobiographical novel and stars the ever-excellent Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread, Bergman Island) as Clémence.

‘Hits its mark with painful accuracy... [Vicky] Krieps’ inhabitation of the role is so complete. It’s an enormous, generous performance.’

Jessica Kiang, Variety

‘A typically great performance from Vicky Krieps, an empathetic depiction of the agony enforced by custodial bureaucracy, and an ending that’s sure to spark a lot of conversations.’
