1. Plotting and Planning
We will discuss how to plan your book going into detail about overall structure and plotting your book. We will also discuss how to keep the pace up to keep your readers turning the page, as well as tips and tricks to prevent writer's block.

2. A hook for your book
We will discuss how to write a catchy first sentence to 'hook' readers. The children will spend time writing their own hook for their book.

3. The first page
The first page of your book is extremely important. In this session, the children will write the first page of their book.

Marian Brennan

Marian Brennan is the author of the Adventures of Finn O'Shea children's book series (The Inventions of Finn O'Shea, Astro Fiasco, Digiboy, The Mystery Code and The Christmas Cracker). The books are set in Wicklow (Greystones and Bray). These are fast-paced adventure stories similar to a modern-day Famous Five. The books are full of robots, rockets and gadgets, written to spark curiosity, inspire and to keep kids reading.
