Sorry, Baby

When old college roommates Agnes and Lydie reunite for a short break, it’s a joyous occasion: two best friends enjoying some rare time together. Lydie, however, is also one of the only people Agnes can speak to about a past trauma-that she was sexually assaulted by a former mentor. Years on, Agnes is now a successful college professor, but she is still living with the emotional consequences of that assault.

Eva Victor’s directorial debut pulls off a rare, impressive balancing act-candidly dealing with the trauma of sexual assault, while also proving a warm and funny portrayal of companionship, kindness and survival. This is an eloquent and accomplished film, with a remarkable lead performance from Victor herself.

‘Thanks to the profound and nuanced honesty Victor extracts from each moment, "Sorry, Baby" is a movie that lingers’

Katie Walsh, LA Times

‘A film which doesn’t pretend to have all the answers, but certainly understands the burden of shame placed on sexual assault survivors, and how navigating the world in the aftermath of assault feels like walking through dense fog.’
